Corrugated boxes, Kraft paper and even poly mailers can be recycled.
We've given a lot of thought to how we protect our products for shipment. As committed recyclers ourselves, we wanted to be sure that whatever we use to pack and ship our pieces would be recyclable, and, if possible, made from recycled materials.
We started by ordering Kraft paper sheets made from 100% recycled materials, which we use to neatly wrap our pieces in, rather than using dyed tissue paper.
Then we found the perfect local company to provide recycled and recyclable mailer packaging. EcoEnclose has everything we need, and is just up the road from us in Louisville, Colorado. So there isn't a huge carbon footprint for the recycled boxes and mailers we order to travel to us.
We ship using corrugated boxes that are recyclable and biodegradable, and made from recycled content. We recommend reusing the box you receive as much as possible. Once it is ready to be recycled, break it down to a flat state to make it more manageable for your local recycling center.
The clear poly bags we use are US manufactured using 100% recycled content. They may be recycled wherever poly bags are accepted for recycling. Grocery and drug stores that still give plastic bags often have a bin. Pro Tip: recycle the plastic bags your carrots and other vegetables and fruits arrive in in these bins too - just wash and dry them out first.
As affordable ways to make packaging reusable become available, we plan to gravitate in that direction. We would love to hear your thoughts on ways to make our packaging more sustainable.
